Lewis is a Chartered Surveyor, RICS registered valuer and leads Novello’s Expert Witness team.

A typical day for Lewis could involve anything from carrying out a building survey or valuation to using his specialist skills as an Expert Witness or working on a Leasehold Reform project. Lewis covers London, Surrey and Hampshire.

Lewis has had an interest in property from an early age - his father is a chartered surveyor, based in the West Midlands. Having grown up in the world of property he loves the diversity of working as a surveyor, as no two days or jobs are the same. After school Lewis undertook a degree in Classical Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London and then went on to Nottingham Trent University, where he studied Property Investment and Management. Lewis has great insight into the whole process of buying a house, having worked as an estate agent before training to be a surveyor. He’s able to use this knowledge to help both buyers and solicitors alike when negotiating the complexities of the property market.

Professional Qualifications

Lewis is an MRICS registered valuer and a Member of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors (MFPWS).

His specialisms include -

  • Building Surveys
  • Valuations
  • Expert Witness Services
  • Leasehold Reform

Career Highlights

Lewis cites two particular career highlights. The first was working on buying a freehold under the Lease Reform Act, which gives leaseholders the right to buy the freehold of their property. This can often be a lengthy and challenging process, but even more complex when the client is a foreign embassy in Belgrave Square. As a surveyor, Lewis’s role was to establish the market value of the property, and ensure a fair deal was achieved.

His second career highlight was joining Novello! Lewis has enjoyed being part of a refreshing approach to surveying - using modern technology to provide a better service suited to today’s property market needs.

Hobbies and Interests

Outside of work, Lewis is a keen cyclist. In 2019 he took part in the Prudential Ride London, a 100-mile sportive around the city, out into Surrey and back.

With the arrival of a new baby, he’s not going so far afield at the moment and enjoys spending time with his family. We’re sure it won’t be too long before he’s looking for child seats for his bike!
